Albrighton Medical Practice welcomes all young people

As a practice it is very important that we are available and supportive of all groups within our patient population. Teenagers and young people are one group who may find accessing General Practice and health services challenging.

Our aspiration is to follow guidance from the Office for health Improvement and Disparities;

'You're Welcome': standards to help improve the quality of, and access to, health and wellbeing services for young people.

You can come on your own or choose who comes to the  appointment with you; this may be a parent, carer or a friend. If you would prefer to see a male or female doctor/nurse, we will do our best to arrange this. You can make your own appointment, even if you are under 16.

The Medical Practice provides a confidential service to all patients including under 16’s. The only reason why we might have to consider passing on confidential information without your permission, would be to protect you or someone else from serious harm. We would always try to discuss this with you first.

To help improve our services for young people we worked with with a sixth form student at Idsall School who completed a survey of pupils at the school. The survey highlighted important areas for young people;

  • Mental health (stress, bereavement, eating disorders, body image)
  • Sexual health
  • Substance misuse (drugs, vaping, alcohol)
  • Health and nutrition (body image, healthy lifestyle)
  • Young carers and palliative care
