In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Albrighton like this;
ALBRIGHTON, a village, a parish, and a subdistrict, in the district of Shiffnal, Salop. The village adjoins the Shrewsbury and Birmingham railway, 5¼ miles ESE of Shiffnal; and has a station on the railway, and a post office‡ under Wolverhampton.
